Wir – Anneliese, Renate und Ute – wollen mit unseren HELGA-Produkten dem Superfood Chlorella Alge zu mehr Popularität verhelfen. Wo HELGA draufsteht, ist die Power-Pflanze Alge drinnen. Algen sind DAS Nahrungsmittel der Zukunft: nährstoffreich, nachhaltig, ökologisch. Die Chlorella Alge ist eine mikroskopisch kleine, einzellige Grünalge von kugeliger Gestalt, die zur Hälfte hochwertiges Protein enthält. Es ist die Pflanze mit dem höchsten Gehalt an bioverfügbarem, also für unseren Körper verwertbarem Vitamin B12 und auch jene mit dem höchsten Chlorophyllgehalt. Außerdem liefert sie uns Folsäure, Eisen, Beta-Karotin,Lutein und Alpha-Linolensäure.

01 Wie kam es zu der Idee des Startups?
Das kam so: Anneliese und Renate haben beruflich gemeinsam an der Entwicklung von Technologien zur Züchtung von Mikroalgen gearbeitet. Dabei ging es darum möglichst fetthaltige Algen zu züchten, um daraus einen Rohstoff für Biodiesel zu machen, also Treibstoff für Autos und Maschinen. Gemeinsam mit Ute, einer langjährigen Freundin von Renate, haben wir das Potenzial des Marktnischenprodukts Alge als „Treibstoff“ für den Menschen erkannt. Im April 2015 haben wir drei unsere Firma gegründet. Unser erstes Produkt ist das prickelnde Erfrischungsgetränk „HELGA“. HELGA ist ein veganes und allergenfreies Low-Carb-Getränk, das schmeckt und jeder verträgt. Es besteht aus dem Superfood Chlorella Alge und österreichischem Quellwasser, wenig Zucker und liefert viel Vitamin B12 – eine Flasche deckt ein Viertel des Tagesbedarfs an Vitamin B12. Unser zweites Produkt – das Chlorella Pulver – ist „Alge für Fortgeschrittene“ -also für all jene, die bereit sind, mit diesem Superfood zu kochen, (Smoothies) zu mixen und zu backen.

03 Darf ich das Thema Monetarisierung ansprechen?
Ja klar! Die Geschäftsidee – also „Lebensmittel mit Algen“ – fanden wir drei Gründerinnen so genial, dass sie es uns wert war, den Sprung in die Selbstständigkeit zu wagen, einhergehend mit Kapital-Akquise (Investoren, Crowd-Funding), eigenem Büro etc.. Dafür opferten wir zwar nicht das letzte Hemd, aber definitiv sämtliches Ersparte.
